Jason Godfrey returns to Switzerland to seek out the next big thing in haute horlogerie and exquisite jewelry at Baselworld 2015. Discover the latest technological advancement and innovative designs with the all-new Life Inspired original series, Art of Time: Baselworld.

As Switzerland’s cultural hub, Basel boasts the highest concentration of museums and art galleries – a result of its long-standing patronage of classical fine arts. Notable museums include the world-famous Beyeler Museum, named after its founder and an early initiator of Art Basel, Ernst Beyeler; The Tinguely Museum is an art museum dedicated to the life and work of the eminent machine sculptor Jean Tinguely.
Observe as the innovations of art and design come together as prestigious watchmakers and jewelry houses pay their tributes to Swiss heritage: Oris reveals its latest master stroke with the new Calibre 111, now available in four different finishes – a celebration of its independent history as pioneer creators of movement; while Schoeffel presents its rare collection of necklaces set with exquisite Tahitian Peacock Pearls.
Solar energy and GPS functions feature heavily on the technological front – Seiko unveils the Astron GPS Solar, which uses GPS signals to automatically detect from 39 time zones; Tissot launches the first touch screen watch powered by solar energy with the T-Touch Solar, with an impressive ability to store up to one year of power in a single charge. This year’s Baselworld debuts are testament to the essence of venerable craftsmanship – passion, tradition and innovative creativity. The past, present and future co-exists in harmony in Basel, a city that honours its traditions even as it embraces 21st century sensibilities.
